Get ready for a major transformation at Disney's Hollywood Studios! The once-familiar Muppets Courtyard is being reimagined, and the changes are already taking shape. But here's where it gets controversial... Will the beloved Muppets be able to breathe new life into the old space, or will the changes be too drastic?
The scaffolding surrounding Gonzo's Royal Flush is a clear indicator of the upcoming makeover. In our previous update, the scaffolding was on the side, but now it's along the front, between the entrance and PizzeRizzo. This iconic attraction, which houses the area's restrooms, is getting a face-lift, and the removal of prop pipes and brickwork is a testament to the extent of the changes.
The sign has already been taken down, and the brick removal seems to be in line with the new Monstropolis concept art, which includes a new marquee and decorations. This is a bold move, as it suggests a significant departure from the original design.
But it's not just Gonzo's Royal Flush that's undergoing a transformation. We've noticed yellow infrastructure showing on one of the show buildings behind the clock tower, and a crew member was spotted working on the back side of the clock tower itself. The former Muppet Vision theater is also being revamped, with brick removal and white scrim covering the windows.
The main attraction of the new land will be the Monsters, Inc. door coaster, which is under construction in a Cast Member parking lot. However, the Muppets will soon take over Rock 'n' Roller Coaster on the other side of the park, adding another layer of excitement to the changes.
